Bowie is one of 12 CUPA-HR members selected to participate in the Wildfire Program.

TJ Bowie, equal opportunity and human resources compliance manager at Elon University, was recently selected through a competitive process to represent the university in the 2022-23 cohort of the CUPA-HR Wildfire Program.

Bowie was chosen from a highly selective application pool to be one of the 12 participants in the cohort. CUPA-HR, the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources, annually hosts a 12-months leadership development experience designed for early-career higher education human resource professionals. Program participants will have the opportunity to develop their professional skills through tailored learning experiences including mentorship, learning events and courses and the completion of a project showcasing the insights they gain throughout the year.

“I genuinely consider myself a lifelong learner and I’m always looking for ways to not only better myself, but also give back to the communities that have helped and raised me up along the ways,” Bowie said.

He is excited to represent Elon while also giving back to the HR profession, which has welcomed him with open arms in the last six months.

“To be recognized and selected for this program means a lot and I look forward to fully engaging in this process. I am excited to be able to give back to Elon University broadly via my intellectual growth and specifically via the project I will complete,” he added.

Through this program, Bowie will have the opportunity to learn from industry professionals, develop a project for implementation at Elon using national best practices, mentorship from numerous HR professionals and network to expand the brand of the university.

The program is named “Wildfire” in hopes that the learning and development of the participants continue to grow like wildfire, not only in their own personal and professional development, but through the work they are able to contribute to their institutions and the higher education HR field.
