There is no day in auto racing quite like the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, as three of the greatest races in all the world take place on the same day. First is Formula 1’s Monaco Grand Prix, then comes IndyCar’s signature race in the Indianapolis 500. And finally, there’s the Coca-Cola 600 for NASCAR.
The Cup Series gears up for its longest race of the season and one of the sport’s crown jewel events, the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. As the United States commemorates Memorial Day weekend, NASCAR’s best will look to win one of its toughest and most important races. With stock car racing’s roots being in the Carolinas and the Charlotte area serving as home to many in the racing industry, there is an enormous level of pride in winning at Charlotte and winning its feature event.
After winning last week’s All-Star Race, Ryan Blaney seeks his first points-paying win of 2022. To do so, he’ll have to contend with past Coke 600 winners like Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr., Brad Keselowski, and Kyle Larson along with other first-time Coke 600 hopefuls like Chase Elliott and Denny Hamlin.
