OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas are three of the semifinalists at the 2022 NCAA DI Softball Women’s College World Series held in Oklahoma City at USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex.
It marks the first time since 2015 that a league has placed three teams into the semifinals and is the most Big 12 teams to make the final four in a single year at the WCWS.
No. 1 OU is 2-0, defeating No. 9 Northwestern 13-2 in five innings and Texas, 7-2. The Sooners will face No. 5 UCLA and need just one win to advance to the championship series while the Bruins will need to beat Oklahoma twice. OU has outscored its opponents 72-7 so far this postseason and is looking for its third-consecutive trip to the championship series with a chance to defend its national title.
No. 7 Oklahoma State has wins over Arizona (4-2) and No. 14 Florida (2-0). The Cowgirls match up with the Longhorns, who defeated No. 5 UCLA (7-2) to open the WCWS before falling to No. 1 Oklahoma (7-2) and then bouncing back to eliminate Arizona (5-2). OSU needs just one win to move on, while Texas needs two over the Cowgirls. UT is just the second unseeded team in the history of the WCWS to make it to the semifinals.
