ORLANDO, Fla – Orlando’s Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and Ginsburg Family Foundation announced a first of its kind performance by the world-renowned National Ballet of Ukraine to benefit Ukrainian citizens, refugees and veteran services, according to a news release from the Dr. Phillips Center.

The performance, organized by the Ginsburg Foundation and Ukrainian producer Vadim Fedotov, will take place on August 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the center’s Steinmetz Hall. Organizers said 100% of ticket sales and sponsorships will benefit the people of Ukraine.

The event is sponsored by the Ginsburg Family Foundation, the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, Nemours Children’s Health, Universal Orlando, the Ed Haddock, Jr. Family Foundation and Rosen Hotels & Resorts, the center said.

“We have all been overwhelmed by the total disregard for humanity as the humanitarian crisis continues to unfold in an unjustified war in Ukraine,” Marc McMurrin, president & CEO of the Ginsburg Family Foundation, said in a statement. “This performance has been given the full endorsement and support of the Ukrainian government and is an opportunity for Orlando to stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people amid their continued struggle for democracy, dignity, and self-determination.”

The evening will kick off with a presentation of the Ukrainian and American national anthems performed by Opera Orlando, with the main performance to highlight Ukrainian culture and feature excerpts from the world’s greatest ballets.

The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the music, to be conducted by Sergii Golubnychyi from the Taras Shevchenko National Opera and Ballet Theater in Kyiv, which the National Ballet of Ukraine calls home.

Additionally, a silent auction will be held in the lobby featuring art and cultural items from Ukraine.

While the National Ballet of Ukraine has performed in many places around the world and in the United States, the upcoming performance in Orlando will be its first in the U.S. since 2018, the center said.

The ticket sales will go directly toward charities providing humanitarian assistance and emergency medical aid to Ukrainian citizens, refugees and veteran services, including Razom for Ukraine, Doctors Without Borders and the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.

“We are beyond grateful to the Orlando community for hosting us and kicking off our first US tour in several years,” Olena Filipieva, artistic director with the National Ballet of Ukraine, said in a news release. “In these challenging times, it means so much to our dancers to be able to share their passion with audiences, while also benefiting so many fellow Ukrainians back home (…) This tour has a deeper purpose for us all.”

Ticket prices will range from $100 to $250. Purchase tickets and learn more at the Ukraine Ballet Benefit website.
